It’s been a long time…

Been a long lonely, lonely,

Vacations seem to unsettle me. Now, dont get me wrong I love them like everyone else. The problem is that well before they start and for a long while after I cant get started on painting.  I’m on my way to starting again and the next vacation is a few weeks away. Have to find a way to tackle this. If you have any ideas please leave me a comment. I’m willing to try most things 😀 but not stop holidaying!

8″ X 10″ Pen & Ink and white chalk in my sketchbook.

  1. I know exactly what you mean! I’ve gotten over being unsettled by holidays, but vacations still throw me off badly. I think the trick it to IGNORE the holiday — if you always paint between 8 and 10 pm, then continue to paint between 8 and 10 pm., or at least modify so that you are painting for 30 minutes or so. Family is the most important thing of all, so you have to spend really good quality time with them for your own sake — the trick is to wear them out and then paint while they’re taking a nap… Or you could explain the situation, and hang a sign on your back that says “Happy Holidays — Now Go Away!”
    😀

  2. oops! i meant vacations 😛 i use the word interchangeably and obviously incorrectly! lol! the first thing that i need to do is set myself a fixed time. I managed to do this for 10 days and then slid back into my old routine of spending the day in front of the computer. I’ve updated my post. thanks for stopping by.

  3. Well I love to travel and I love to sketch as I travel. But who says you have to paint while preparing for a trip or recovering from one? Look at your vacation as a chance to just enjoy life; be observant, take notes, do doddles on recipts, be thankful of the experience and it eventually will come out in your beautiful paintings! We of course will miss you!
This is a beautiful portrait and has captivated me…..I am in awe.

  4. lol! thanks for putting things in perspective. i’m hoping to participate in an exhibition in february and need at least 15 more paintings. the rate at which I’m going is not going to help. as of this morning i’ve decided to put up work other than the series “on the road to ashulia” and that’s a relief 😀 thank you for the lovely comment.
